An EIN isn't just paperwork. It's what lets you open a business bank account separate from your personal one; which is a vital step to actually keep your LLC's liability protection intact. Without that separation, a court can decide your "LLC" was never really its own entity to begin with.

It also opens the door to tax elections like S-corp status, which can save your business thousands every year.

None of that requires you to become the person who figures out the IRS's online system.

This is for the owner who wants it done without having to do it.

This is for the owner who is keenly aware that building your business is what you do best.

This is for the owner who understand that LLC admin like your EIN application is what we do best.

Even if it means hours on the hold with the IRS.

The EIN application process for one actual client.

3

filing attempts

7.5 wks

start to finish

2 hrs

longest hold time

Most EINs are processed same-day. Not always.

For this client, it took three separate filings and seven and a half weeks to get her EIN. Every attempt meant calling the IRS again, multiple times, to either be disconnected due to too many caller or wait an hour or two only to be told they have no information, and I'd need to file again. And on one lucky occasion, we experienced both - an hour hold time ending in the automated system hanging up due to too many callers.

And any mistake on the faxed form would have meant starting this process over again from scratch.

This is what dealing with the IRS can look like sometimes. The $197 covers our expert review of your information before we submit it, and our time and energy tackling whatever hurdles we encounter. Either way, it's our time spent on hold, not yours.

FAQ

  • If you are in Texas, yes.

Some states require you get the EIN before you register the LLC, so we recommend you research this for your state if you're not in TX.

If you haven't registered your LLC yet, you may want to consider our Comprehensive LLC formation. It comes with a Company Agreement that we complete as completely as we can after your LLC is approved by the state. CLICK HERE to see if this would be a good option for you.

And our Concierge Counsel members get $248 off of LLC formation (plus they get legal consultation time that can be used to help complete the Company Agreement). CLICK HERE to see if this would be a good option for you.

  • Once we have your intake form, we will submit your EIN application the same or next business day. For most businesses, we will get the EIN immediately at the end of the online form.

Sometimes, we cannot request your EIN online and have to fax in a paper application - if that's the case, we will reach out to you, as we will need your signature on the documents we submit. The turn around time for faxed applications is supposed to be 4 days, but more often runs over 10 days, but we will be following up with the IRS and keeping you informed every step of the way.

  • No problem. We can still process your EIN, but we will have to submit paper applications, so the process will be a bit more involved.

  • No — an EIN is your business's federal tax ID number. It's usually required before opening a bank account, but it's a separate number.
